Carry On - Raw Delivery “Carry On” is nothing like the song “Stay With Me”, one of the reasons why Megattack did so successful on this album. Megattack diversifies their songs making the album abstract and easier to be widely loved. "Carry on" is a Hard Rock/Metal song that uses faster rifts, fasters drum beats, and a more extreme kind of sound. One of things it starts with is an immediate hard metal intro that can get your head bumping. After they set off the intro it goes into the chorus which is the slower part of the song. This is where “The Jack” comes to light with his perfect rock voice that makes the album, the album. Then comes the guitar solos which are absolutely spectacular which are very fast, abstract, and energizing. Below is Full Audio of “Carry on” - Raw Delivery by Megattack

“Stay With Me" is among Megattack's most popular song from the 1980’s. The song is part of the Album Raw Delivery, which came out in 1986. "Stay with me" focusses on slow drum beat, and minimum guitar except for rifts & chords during the chorus. The Jack preforms his song solo in this and does a very good job, his artwork is great. In this Ballad, The Jack uses his voice to shape out most of the melody while maintaining a certain Graspy metal voice that is popularly used. The Jack tends to have long very bushy curly hair & wears skinny tights & shirts to get the attention of the audience while he “rocks out”. This was the start of Megattack and their rise to near fame. In 1986 they came out with their new album Raw Delivery which started to go very well and became successful. In the heat of a contract with Geffen records, their main Singer, The Jack, decided to leave the band to form another one. This was a hit for the band, & they did not reform or continue playing until 2005.
20 years ago the US band MEGATTACK released their debut 'Raw delivery',
which gave them quite some success, although it sadly was never followed by another album, but now 2005 is the comeback of MEGATTACK. The band still plays high class 80s US Melodic Power Metal with raw DEE SNIDER type of vocals. Most of the 10 new songs included here are mid-tempo with a very big 80s touch, sort of DIO/ASTRAL DOORS/WARRIOR type of material, yet the band's Bio mentions they are as good as HEEP and DIO, but maybe that's a bit impossible to reach. However, songs like "Save the nations", "Watching you", "Bad enough", "Earthshaker" and "Where do we go now" are quite impressive. The CD has a big sound and instrumental it all sounds perfect, vocally sometimes great, sometimes not, kinda like STEVE GRIMMETT (or GRIM REAPER) when it's not and DEE SNIDER a lot when it goes well, but still singer Rick Jackson pulls it off very well most of the time, so in the end this is a highly recommended CD to fans of raise your hands in the air and shout it out loud- 80s guitar riff orientated pure Metal. Saving the Nations had great reviews and was listened to around the world, especially in Europe. Gough & Hultquist's guitar skills really raise the bar for this album. It has amazing melody and solos that make the song much more interesting to listen to. It has catchy choruses and rifts that will be sure to stay in your head for the rest of the day.

Here are the members: (This includes ex-members, members who've passed, & members who stuck 'til the end) Kevin Merendino - The drummer which people referred as thunder-sticks is an amazing drummer that has kept the band together for years. He worked as a Video Production Video producer at MZI Media, and did very well there. He's born and raised in Long Branch, New Jersey and now lives in Salt Lake City, Utah with his wife. Kevin is also educated and studied at the University of Utah throughout his younger years. Now Kevin is held up in Utah still in the music industry helping produce concerts and such in his home town. Loren Jay Gough - The lead guitarist in Megattack has wonderful skills & can light up a room with his guitar. Loren Jay Gough decided to not be in the band anymore & moved onto one called Sawdust Road in 2012. Sawdust road is another death metal band where Jay Gough is the leader, & lead guitarist. Loren Jay Gough was born in Salt Lake City, Utah & moved to Waterville, Kansas as a kid. Loren Jay Gough has no education except for going to Cotonwood High school where it is unclear if graduated. Rick Jackson - "The jack" everyone knows him as is the star of the band with his amazing vocals that will get the whole room nodding their heads. The Jack keeps his information very private so if anyone has anything it would be a help. Timothy Vance White - Known as "Champagne" very sadly passed away in 2008 when he was 48 years old. On November 14, 2008 Timmy was rushed to the Davis North Hospital. He was born Anchorage, AK in 1960 February 14, 1960. He married Wendy Cloward on April 27, 1991 in Las Vegas, N. Timmy practiced christianity at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was such a good person and musician many people were distraught to hear about his death. Timothy was a bass player for both the bands Aerial & Megattack and in 2005 he produced a single with Megattack that did not make it. Richard Bettison - Just like Timmy, R.I.P, Richard is a bass player & was a bass player for Megattack in the 1980's. Richard Bettison likes to keep his information private, if you know anything people contact us. Parrish Hultquist - R.I.P 2011. A very good guitarist that excelled at what he does in almost every aspect. Everyone will miss Parrish as he is one of the reasons the band became big. In the 1980's Parrish formed with the band Megattack which is the most successful band he will ever join. Although right as the band broke up the album Raw Delivery blew up in Europe but no one was there to take the opportunity. Parrish continued his career playing in bands such as Terra (Flames of Passion), & Wolfgang. Patrick Carter Bryan Sorenson (R.I.P. 2013) |
AuthorHi I'm DD, just Megattack's biggest fan from way back in the day. I've loved these guys for a long, long time. I wanted to put together a little tribute to them, as well as some of the other great bands from the 80's. Megattack Rocks! ArchivesCategories |
